A Different Approach to Insomnia

A Different Approach to Insomnia
July 3, 2018Dr. Steven Zodkoy, DCLatest Newsadrenal fatiguecalm cpcortisolinsomniapower offrelaxrestsleep

Are you suffering from insomnia or poor sleep? How about taking a different approach.   The nutritional support needed to help you sleep depends a lot upon what your sleep issues are but there are also some common steps that can be incorporated into your life:

  1.   No caffeine after noon, including decaf coffee, ice or hot tea, soda  or energy drinks
  2.   Make sure your nutritional supplements do not have hidden stimulants such as green tea, bitter orange, rhodiola
  3.   Turn off all electronics or set to “Do not Disturb” an hour before bed
  4.   No alcohol
  5.   Do deep breathing exercises before bed. There are excellent phone apps to guide you.
If you have problems falling asleep, a product like POWER OFF utilizes herbs and amino acids to calm you so that you may fall asleep.    This product is unique because it uses Poppy to calm the nervous system and Magnolia Bark to reduce anxiety the next day.  It also has L-Theanine to reduce stimulation of the nervous system and GABA to calm the nervous system.  This product is excellent for helping you fall asleep vs. staying asleep.

If you have problems staying asleep a product like CALM CP  would be a better choice.  Most people who wake up after several hours of sleep have an issue with their hormones, specifically their cortisol levels.  Cortisol is highest around 7 am and lowest around 10 pm and  the difference between these times can be as much as 10x.  People who wake up in the middle of the night experience cortisol levels rising too early (another reason why people tend to get hungry at night).  CALM CP is one of the only products available with Banabe which delays the upswing in Cortisol, thus allowing for a longer and more restful sleep.

Calm CP targets elevated cortisol levels through two different mechanisms: (1) Corosolic acid (standardized to 2%) from Banaba leaf extract reduces the production of cortisol; (2) Phosphatidylserine (SerinAid®) decreases cortisol levels by re-sensitizing cortisol receptors to regulate the stress response.* The formula
